I originally purchased the V500 from a High Steet Retailer when it first appeared on the Market. It's easy to use, has all the basic functions you need and also has a basic camera built in too. It's reasonably light and can fit in your pocket etc without causing you discomfort when you walk or sit down. It also has Bluetooth technology which is a great help when using 'hands free' while driving or transfering pictures to your PC. Unfortunately after many years of good service my old V500 developed a fault with the display screen. After looking at the latest new mobile phones, they all seemed cheap and nasty. Most of them were made of plastic construction. So I purchased another two V500's (one to be used as a spare/emegency) from two seperate Ebay Sellers. They are a good phone to have and I highly recommend them.Read full review
Ever had something, a gadget or gizmo you really rated highly? I did in the shape of a Motorola V500 mobile phone. At the time of their launch they were the phone to have, good looking and what a great specification. Remember the 'Hello Moto' advert? Well fashions come and go and l got rid of my ageing V500, but what a mistake! Fashion does not make for ease of use or general all round reliabilty. So after a long search and a number of fruitless bids I secured a V500 through an ebay auction. The phone was a spares or repairs offer with no charger, but no problem I had an old surplus charger and if you don't take a risk, whats life all about?. On arrival it was SIM card in, battery charged up, switch on and straight into network with full functionality. Great! I now have my trusty old V500 back and at a bargain price! There are a couple of morales to this review. 1) Don't let fashion get in the way of what works well, change should bring improvement, not change for change sake. 2) My view is that it can pay to take risks on e-bay and especially if the price is right bid for that unknown, uncertain item, but don't throw caution to the wind, oh, and don't bleat if it doesn't work out, learn from the experience. I love this phone! Used my first one for 2 over years then decided to get a newer one from eBay. That has just lasted me 3 years so now back to using my spare. Need to get a new one now, but I really just want another one of these! The features are simple to use, good sized buttons and have lots of personalisable features. The clam-shell design means that buttons can't be pressed in your bag or pocket and the front screen means you can easily see the time or whoever is calling you. Only down side to it is the poor quality camera - but then I have a good digital one so it doesn't bother me. If you just want a basic phone for simply texting and calling then I highly recommend this one!
I already own a Motorola V540 phone which I have always liked. This is a present for my other half. I like these models because they are flip phones and therefore the screen doesn't get scratched or damaged. It is also impossible to accidently dial a number as the touch pad is covered. I bought this phone as we live in Spain and this particular phone is unlocked which means we can use it on any of the local networks, plus we can use it when we visit the UK by using a UK sim card in it.
