Lots of photographer buy this camera for its first generation X-trans sensor. Although it's the same as found on the X-Pro1 and X-E1, results are different straight out of camera, this is partly because the X-M1 engine is not the same as Its bigger brothers. It has been configured differently too. Having said that you can get great shots out of the X-M1 if you take the time to configure and experiment with its settings. I've owned both of its bigger brothers and decided to get this X-M1 to see how far I could push it. With a prime lens, I got the 27mm pancake, this camera will give you some great B&W shots, especially using a yellow or red filter in front of the lens. So far I'm very pleased with it and enjoy squeezing as much as possible dynamic range out of its sensor. I would heartily recommend this camera to an enthusiastic amateur who has some experience with camera settings. For a new photographer who comes from a smartphone background, perhaps you should look at other offerings unless you are prepared to take the time needed to discover what this great camera can produce.Read full review

Surprisingly good images from this cam and the 16-60 kit lens. I do miss the viewfinder tho. Slow AF, but at this price point, it’s pretty good.

This is a great little camera. It will give the same image quality as the X-E1 and X-Pro1, it just doesn't have a viewfinder.

This camera takes first class photographs, can be as simple or as complex as you want, and the results are comparable to digital SLR s costing ten times it's price. Great camera to carry with you all the time.
