The machine looked as though it had just come off the factory production line, with some added improvements. i.e stainless steel backplate etc I have been using the mower for over six weeks, it starts first time everytime, runs very smooth and cuts the grass beatifully. This is like a brand new mower at a third of the cost

Mower made by Germans with an Italian engine and carb'. Could have been built to a better standard: e.g. poor rear roller bearings causing the rear roller to jam, particularly when pulling backwards; hopeless self-starter motor (jams), It must be mentioned that there is a modification kit for the rear roller--improved bearings---why couldn't they have used decent bearings in the first place? The motor actually starts well with the cord (manual start) --it's just as well. If this Atco had been made in this country, British built, then it would have been a better job. What a pity the name on the machine couldn't have been 'Volkswagen' then surely it would have been built with pride. All-in-all a good machine, a very good Italian engine, but still a poor build over-all.

This is an excellent lawn mower with superb build quality. It does require a basic level of competence to change the cassettes over and maintain. It is also heavy so would be unsuitable if you need to lift up and down steps on a regular basis. If looked after, this will last many years.
