My son has had this model since launch and I have always envied the performance set against my ******* 42" plasma. The abundance of connection possibilities is great.....altho' I do wish that information be given on how to interconnect with other equipment...beyond a Decoder. I like to be able to connect other recorder/players,camcorder,camera, etc so that they can 'talk' to each other. This was possible with the Pioneer.....but the wiring was complex !!! I now have a Pioneer HDD/DVD Record/Play,Humax PVR,Panasonic 5.1 Theatre System, JVC GZ-HD7 camcorder,SkyHD/HDD all interconnected....whoopee !! The resultant output via the Pioneer TV is superb. In summary;in my opinion, the Pioneer PDPXDE 43" is the bees knees....recommended without reservation..... all this from a Silver Surfer at advanced level in Seniority !!!!Read full review
I bought this TV as I thought it was only 1.5 yrs old (as advertised) and the reviews I read all said how amazing the TV was. However, these reveiws were 10 yrs old as was the TV so the picture probably was good then in comparison. The sound is excellent. The picture is not good, the contrast is not sharp at all and looks very 'fluffy'. However it does not suffer the shadow or blured outlint that you get on other Plasma's. You have to spend time setting-up the picture on every input channel as otherwise it looks even worse.
