Gieves ltd started trading as 'gieve matthews seagrove ltd' in by royal appointment and developed a name for themselves as a supplier for the royal navy the helmet was produced by gieves ltd (royal navy outfiters) at 21 bond streetgieves acquired hawkes in and became gieves & hawkes and relocated to saville rowthe helmet is still in good condition despite some staining on the shell the case has a clasp for fastening and handle for carryinga wonderful white pith helmet  the pith helmet comes complete with it is own (admittedly bruised and battered) trunk casethe name was modified to gieves ltd after end of great warwhilst it cannot be verified the helmet is probably made from cork & canvas a marvellous piece of memorabilia for any collection see oxfam website for delivery information read morethe inside of the case has a couple of embellishments to hold helmet in place gieves has had many illustrious patrons over the centuries including charlie chaplin and laurence oliver  measurement: inner circumference approx 22"this pith helmet is most likely from the interwar periodthe case whilst personalised also carries the gieves coat of arms
