I will have indian runner ducklings available on 20th june, they will be a few days old and require a heat lamp, experience ownwers only please as they can be very messy and some people just don’t realise this and then end up rehoming at a later date, so please do your homework first, they are near enough fully grown at 8 weeks so don’t stay cute and fluffy for long, they need to be put away each evening before dark to protect them from foxes and other predators once they are adult size, until then they need to be kept under a heat lamp to keep warm and kept indoors, they will be fed on none medicated chick crumb with added brewers yeast for extra niacin as they grow, i feed fancy feed chick crumb with extra brewers yeast, they should not be allowed to run on slippery surfaces as this can cause leg issues and splayed legs, grass towels and carpet or any rubber surfacesindian runners are lovely ducks and will lay lovely big eggs for youplease message me if you need more information elaine x read morea plastic paint roller tub is very good for young ducklings as it has a slope they can walk out of, they need food and water down all the time when growing and need to have plenty of exercise preferably on grass and away from dogs, they cannot be left in the garden by themselves as cats crows magpies will have them, so only supervised exercisethey can’t have a pond at this age they will drown, they are incubator raised so don’t have the natural oils they get to stay afloat from their mother

They eat chick crumb which i mixe with chicken mixed corn & chicken layers pellets from 4weeks old till 7weeks old from 7weeks old they won’t need to eat the chick crumb anymore so just the mixed corn & pelletsi have 43 quail that have hatched out of my own eggs which my adults layedno time wastersthey also love to have a sand bath so i have play sand in a plastic storage box & some in a washing up bowlquails can’t live on their own so they must go in 2s or more,they are best living in groups of 3/4 or more so they can huddle together when coldthey can move outside at 7weeks old into a rabbit hatch with a run underneath or a separate run as they love to run about outside,they have hay in the hide bit of the hutch & sawdust in the rest of the hutchthey will be able to go at 5weeks old on saturday 19th september when they come off heat lamp & when i know their sexesfemales will lay their own eggs with or without males around,they will lay them from as early as 7weeks old & as late as 10weeks oldthey will also need oysters shell grit in a separate bowl or spred out in the run floor,this help to have strong hard eggsif you have a male in with the female then you should get fertile eggs once the female has layed her first eggsall sold pending collection at 5weeks oldthey are the size of an oliveyou can eat fertile or unfertilised eggs they taste the samethey will need to live indoors at room temperature till they are 7weeks old in any kind of box with a cover as they will fly outhatched saturday 15th aug
