A rare style of antique postal scalesi haven't noticed a maker stamp or namethese are fresh to the market & rarely come up for sale, as they're getting very hard to findthe weights in some of the images are just there to help to demonstrate that it balances)can post at extra costplease study the images, as they also form part of the description & please do your own researchthe wooden base looks like it's split to the rare edge & has been historically gluedplease feel free to make an offerthe flat brass plate also has two brass tabs, to prevent letters from migrating towards the graduated armthey would polish up nicely toothe underside of the base amazingly still has its original paper liningpostage includes being signed fori'm sure they could be further improved by someone who knows what they're doing, but i've just left them in "as found" conditionthere are expected impact marks, where the bottom of the counter weight has impacted the wooden basethe centre pivot is just over 4 1/4" highthere are a few scratches, both on the brass, the counter weight & on the wooden lacquered basei have tried some of my own weights & suprisingly they're still fairly accuratein expected used condition for a balance of this age & naturethe base is approx just under " at its longest part & 5" at its widest parti think they originally would have been silver or silver plated, as the counter weight still has some silvering on it(the scales don't come with any weightson the flat brass plate it states; the graduated arm goes from 0 tothere's a large piece of lead screwed to the underside of the brass plate, i'm guessing to calibrate it
