gieves acquired hawkes in and became gieves & hawkes and relocated to saville rowthe case whilst personalised also carries the gieves coat of armsthe name was modified to gieves ltd after end of great war the helmet was produced by gieves ltd (royal navy outfiters) at 21 bond street gieves has had many illustrious patrons over the centuries including charlie chaplin and laurence olivergieves ltd started trading as 'gieve matthews seagrove ltd' in by royal appointment and developed a name for themselves as a supplier for the royal navy see oxfam website for delivery information read morea wonderful white pith helmetthis pith helmet is most likely from the interwar period the case has a clasp for fastening and handle for carryingwhilst it cannot be verified the helmet is probably made from cork & canvas  the pith helmet comes complete with it is own (admittedly bruised and battered) trunk case a marvellous piece of memorabilia for any collection  measurement: inner circumference approx 22"the helmet is still in good condition despite some staining on the shellthe inside of the case has a couple of embellishments to hold helmet in place
