The balance is very intricate & finely madeantique boxed coin balance/scales that i have owned for over 35 years2 slots are for weighs & one for the early iron balance itselfthe hardwood box is in lovely condition & looks like mahoganythere are 3 compartments insideall hollowed out from a single piece of woodit still has its original silk tassel to hold them bythey look very early to me, i suspect from around the mid 'splease do your own research can post at extra costpostage includes being signed forthey have a nice hand written label on the inside of the lid, which states "foreign coin & english coin"in expected used but good condition for an item of this agethe pans have small circles on their inside, which is a nice touchit's hook & hinges are all hand made from wirethere is green velvet inside, which has a little expected warethe box measures approx 6 3/4" long at its longestthe pointer needle is almost like a needle it's so fineit's amazing it's survived
